Prostate Cancer: Radiation Therapy.

If your doctor thinks you should limit the activity, he will discuss this with you.
In order to minimize fatigue during radiation therapy:
Sure enough rest. Eat balanced, nutritious diet. Organize your work and plan frequent rest periods. What is a three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy?
When the three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy treatment is applied on the basis of CT (CT - short for computerized tomography, which is to use X-rays to produce detailed images of internal organs) in combination with three-dimensional images of tumors of prostate cancer.

Radiation is directed at the prostate from multiple directions, thus minimizing damage to normal tissue. This method allows you to accurately deliver the radiation dose. To date, it has worked well in the case of localized tumors such as prostate cancer within the prostate gland.

General principles

All patients are doing a CT scan specifically for the treatment of radiotherapy and planning. CT data electronically transmitted to the computer, which is planning a three-dimensional treatment. The physician determines the treatment area and surrounding areas, such as the bladder, rectum, intestines and bones. Optimum beam of radiation dose and analyzed using three-dimensional model created by computer. When the exact dose of radiation to the prostate gland is determined, the patient returns to simulate treatment. The simulation represents the patient plan, created by a computer. The doctor will review the treatment and side effects with the patient. Possible side effects
No hair loss, nausea or vomiting. Easy fatigue. Patients follow the usual routine of the day during treatment, including full-time work. Frequent urination, weak urine stream or a small burning sensation when urinating. Diarrhea, although uncontrolled diarrhea is rare. Because the beam of radiation passes through healthy tissue, such as the rectum, bladder and bowels on the way to the prostate gland, it kills some healthy cells. That is why it may be diarrhea. Possible long-term problems, including proctitis (inflammation of the rectum) with bleeding, digestive disorders, such as diarrhea, incontinence and impotence.   What is modeled on the intensity of radiation therapy?
Simulated intensity radiation therapy (IMRT) - the most sophisticated approach to the three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy. The method of IMRT is very accurate.
With IMRT uses images created by computer in order to plan treatment, and then deliver carefully focused beams of radiation to tumors of the prostate gland. With such a possibility doctors can find the exact dose of radiation to the shape and depth of the tumor, thereby significantly reducing the harmful effects of doses on healthy tissue.Clinical studies indicate that high-dose delivered by IMRT, improves local control of tumors.    Prostate Cancer: Chemotherapy Prostate Cancer: Radiation Therapy.Part One Prostate Cancer: Hormone Therapy
